Applications for entry into First Year in St. Colmcille’s Community School for the academic year 2013/14 are curently being updated and confirmed with parents/guardians. If you made an application on behalf of your child and you have not received a letter (or received a letter and did not reply), please contact Ms Maretta Byrne as soon as possible to ensure that your child’s application remains active.

Gaeltacht Lae

The Gaeltacht Lae summer camp in St. Colmcille’s Community School was very successful
again last summer. We had 6th Class and 1st Year students taking part. We ran lessons in the
morning and sports in the afternoon. The students learned a great deal of Irish and left with a
positive attitude to the langauge. This will be a huge benefit to the students as the oral and
aural components of State Exams are worth 40% and 10% respectively.

The camp will be open to 5th Class, 6th Class and 1st Year students in 2012, and will run 2 – 6
July.

Yearbook 2012

This year’s edition of the School Yearbook, which is due to be published in late May, will have a new design and will be in full colour. Students on the Yearbook committee, under the guidance of Mr. O’Brien, Mr. Bates and Niall Murray (parent), have developed their editorial skills with the aid of Indesign and Photoshop.
